Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Rolex presentation box.

Amongst collectors, the present model is affectionately called the Bart Simpson because of the form of the Rolex crown. Its particular shape, especially the straight tips, resemble the head of the famous cartoon character.

Reference 5513 was launched in 1962, depth rated to 200 meters (660ft), fitted with the 8 mm. crown, crown guards, the bezel with minute divisions for the first fifteen minutes and silver triangle, black dials with gilt printing. As of 1964, the designation "Swiss T<25" was added to the bottom of the dial.
