Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1956 and its subsequent sale on March 21st of the following year.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.

Reference 2520 was launched in 1952 and produced in a very small series until 1954. For many collectors, this reference is amongst the most exclusive and desirable designs ever made by Patek Philippe, and so far, excluding the present watch, only three examples were known in yellow gold and another three in pink gold. Reference 2520 impresses with its substantial case proportions and very articulate lug design, which is the reason why some collectors refer to it as "the hoof". Given its incredible rarity, excellent overall condition, exclusive design, all paired with its wonderful private provenance and freshness to the market, this is a very serious "time-only" wristwatch for the discerning collector.
