Lot Essay

With Richard Mille Warranty dated September 8, 2011, Richard Mille presentation box, screw tool, extra polyurethane strap and cloth strap and product literature.

In 2002 Richard Mille began an official partnership with tennis player Rafael Nadal, winner of the 2010 US Open. The resulting watch was the RM027 Tourbillon, limited to 50 pieces.

The complex tourbillon movement itself only weighs 3.83 grams, and the entire watch, minus strap, weighs just 13 grams. The movement is made from titanium and lital, a high lithium content alloy that contains aluminum, copper, magnesium and zirconium. The lithium provides the mechanism more flexibility and greater shock resistance. This alloy is also used in different aerospace parts on the Airbus A380, helicopters, rockets, and satellites, as well as on Formula 1 racing cars. The carbon composite that makes up the case further protects the movement and tourbillon from shocks. All of these features add up to create a watch that is highly complex yet extremely light and shock resistant, perfect for an international tennis champion as well as the luxury sport watch connoisser.
