Sambhavna is a portrait of 3 young girls spotted by the artist during her travels by motorcycle across central India in 2008-2009. The girl's coy and delighted expressions reflect their encounter with a newcomer in their village.
It is a hand carved linoleum block print translated to a silkscreen, printed on a heavyweight archival matte mylar. The work is finished with a coffee stain wash and hand painting in the girl's faces and clothing. The copper colored halo behind the girls is a second layer of mylar hand cut into an intricate halo form containing imagery inspired by temple architecture, including a Hindu temple ceiling, several arcaded arches, niches containing animal deities in primordial from, and natural imagery such as cocoons, beehives and snakes. The two pieces are hand stitched together.
