Lot Essay

Proun (Project for the Affirmation of the New) was a series begun by Lissitzky in 1919 after he became familiar with Kasimir Malevich's Suprematist principles. Lissitzky created 98 Prounen over the next seven years. This, number 83 in the series, was a construction of wood and celluloid and is now lost.
