Lot Essay

"The jungle of asphalt, brick, mortar and iron looked derelict [...] the sun-drenched moss-coloured walls with peeling plasters only offered a dirty dampness to touch. The subtext of the forlorn bygones was carefully crafted with spacing of negative and positive areas and colour tonalities to impart feelings beyond description laid out on the surface" (P. Ranjan Ray 'Revisiting Bikash Bhattacharjee's Paintings', JAMINI, No. 1, 2004)
