Lot Essay

This was executed by Ruscha in May 1971 for Sonsbeek '71, an international art festival held annually in Arnhem, The Netherlands. It covers the Dutch communities of Veendam, Stadskanaal and Ter Apel. The photographs were taken by the artist using a hand-held camera at bridges throughout these locations.
