Wang Ningde's photographs from his series Some Days explore themes related to memory, history and the forces that combine to create our individual sense of reality. His subjects have a dreamlike quality that seem to have come from the depths of the artist's imagination, or perhaps from our own. These 'ghosts' are alike in one respect: they have their eyes closed and heads inclined to one side, or their backs turned to us. By removing the subjects' consciousness from us, Wang Ningde hopes that we will be able to share a moment of greater intimacy with them as, he says, they 'open up the projector of memory and screen upon our inner heart the silent movie of the past.'
