On a naturalistic rectangular base, realistically cast as a bear attacking a man and a peasant woman wielding a hatchet over the bear, the bronze on the original ebonized wood plinth mounted with a bronze trophy of a bear pelt and hatchet draped over two tree limbs, signed in Cyrillic on base 'FABR. C.F. WOERFFEL ST. PETERSBOURG.', and a finance ministry stamp for 1882
The base 22 5/8 in. (57.4 cm.) wide
