Lot Essay

The present watch is a fine example of a late production Sea-Dweller reference 1665 with all white writing and Mark III dial. The watch further appeals due to its perfectly preserved original condition and well-known retailer's signature Tiffany & Co.

Rolex collectors divide reference 1665 with all white writing into four different series, distinguished by differences in dial layout. These series are called "Mark" and are sometimes abbreviated to MK. The present watch has a Mark III dial, which features very sharp tips and a more balanced oval at the base. Moreover, the hyphen between "Sea" and "Dweller" is marginally longer than on other Mark versions.

For further information regarding the all white Sea-Dweller reference 1665 see Rolex Submariner Story by Franca and Guido Mondani, as well as Lele Ravagnani, pp. 172-178.
