Lot Essay

Accompanied with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1956 and its subsequent sale on 17 October 1957.

This watch constitutes a superb discovery to the world of watch collecting as it is in nearly "new old stock" condition. Furthermore in the much sought after pink gold case material it witnesses impressively how a reference 1579 left the workshops of Patek Philippe, showing the original finish of all case elements.

Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful examples of a reference 1579 in pink gold ever to appear in public, in literally new condition and sold by Gobbi, Milan, one of Patek Philippe's most prestigious retailers in Italy, the present watch is a must-have for the discerning collector.

Reference 1579, introduced into the market in 1943, takes a unique position in the production of chronographs at Patek Philippe, as it is not only one of the largest models with a diameter of 36 mm. but also the only one with facetted lugs.

According to our researches, the present watch is one of only four examples of a reference 1579 in pink gold retailed by Gobbi in Milan to appear in public to date.
