Autumn Leaves and Bird

This painting was dedicated to Yunzhai, Mr. Lu Yunzhai (1922-1989). A native of Shunde, Guangdong, he was a renowned seal and bamboo carver in Macau. In the early 1970s, Mr. Lu made for Zhao Shao'ang a reduced version on board of a calligraphic couplet by Qi Baishi, based on Zhao's collection of the original calligraphic couplet in a much larger format. Zhao was very pleased and placed it in his living room, and in return gifted this painting to Lu.
