'From the top of the then-new Empire State Building, Berenice Abbott made this long time exposure in 1932. The Sixth Avenue el, demolished before World War II, is visible in the foreground. The picture has remained one of the classic images of New York City, and has been reproduced many times.' - Photography Annual
