Born York, Pennsylvania, 1955. Studied at: Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, 1972-75; School of the Art Institute of Chicago, 1975-76; and Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, 1976. Recent exhibitions include: Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, 2002; Chateau de Versailles, Versailles, 2008; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2008; Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin, 2008; Serpentine Gallery, London, 2009; World Trade Center, New York, 2010; Galerie de Noirmont, Paris, France, 2010; and the Beyeler Foundation, Basel, 2012. Koons is renowned for his public sculptures, including the monumental floral sculpture Puppy, 1992, shown at Rockefeller Center and permanently installed at the Guggenheim Bilbao. He is an honorary Member of the Royal Academy, London, 2010. He lives in New York.
