Born Brooklyn, New York, 1927. Studied at The Cooper Union Art School, Manhattan, 1946-49 and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, Maine, 1949-50. Exhibitions include: Marlborough Gallery, New York, 1973; Alex Katz Prints, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, 1974; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, 1986; Alex Katz: A Print Retrospective, The Brooklyn Museum, New York, 1988; The Saatchi Collection, London, 1998; The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, 2007; National Portrait Gallery, London, 2010; Prints, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, 2012. Katz has received several awards including Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy Museum, New York, 2007. He lives in New York.
