Lot Essay

'[Renata Lucas'] practice starts with a thorough investigation of the spatial, social and temporal aspects of the situation to which a given work is intended to respond. Negotiating with the host environment through strategies of replication, displacement and the insertion of unexpected elements or flaws, she employs ordinary materials to intervene in architectural settings and urban landscapes, often crossing boundaries and creating tension between indoors and outdoors. Her work relies on the perception, and often the interaction, of the public, demanding both individual and collective efforts.' (H. Amirsadeghi, Contemporary Art Brazil, London 2012, p. 198).
