Lot Essay

With Vacheron Constantin Certificate of Authenticity dated 24 January 2008 confirming the manufacture of the present watch with "fantaisie" bracelet in 1948.

This watch is a highly unusual example of one of the celebrated firm's lady's bracelet watches particularly fashionable in the 1940s. The perfectly concealed watch is revealed by opening the ingenious spring-loaded side of the central part.

For other examples of unusual bracelet watches designed by Vacheron & Constantin in the 1940s see Secrets of Vacheron Constantin by Franco Cologni, p. 268.
