Lot Essay

Maria Simonides van Nijs (Utrecht 1677(?)-1700), daughter of Jan and Adriana van Hellestein was married to Aarnout Wttewaall, 'landvoogd' of the St. Jan in Utrecht.
A copy of the present portrait, dated 1881 by J. van Selm is recorded in the Iconographisch Bureau, The Hague.
