In 1997 Patek Philippe opened their new watch making centre in Geneva, to mark the occasion they produced two series of limited edition wristwatches Ref:5500 and 4900 called the "Pagoda". To ensure that there was no possibility of further "Pagoda" wristwatches being produced, Patek Philippe destroyed all tools used in the manufacture of these watches.
The limited editions are as follows:
Reference 5500: 100 examples in 18ct yellow gold, 500 examples in 18ct pink gold, 250 examples in 18ct white gold and 150 examples in platinum.
Reference 4900: 500 examples in 18ct yellow gold, 150 examples in 18ct white gold and 100 examples in 18ct pink gold.
The "Pagoda" limited edition set was produced in five examples. Each watch is accompanied by a fitted box, certificate of origin, and a silver dedication medal inscribed Henry Stern et Philippe Stern a tous nos amis, a l'occasion de l'inauguration de la nouvelle Manufacture Patek Philippe.
