Professor Thomas Engle is internationally known in the field of researching polymers and has received numerous honours and prizes. In 1972, Professor Engle was jointly awarded the "Diesel Prize" with Dr. Wernher von Braun, who is one of the most important rocket developers. Other than his achievements in science, Engle is also a famous watch collector who 'self-made' technically outstanding timepieces that often incorporates the style of Breguet, known as Engel Breguets. Professor Engle is also the author of the book A.L. Breguet, Watchmaker to Kings, which detailed the life and exquisite timepieces made by Abraham Louis Breguet.
