Lot Essay

Growth of a Leader is a study for a 1966 Boy Scouts of America calendar illustration. Rockwell frequently used friends and neighbors as models and in the present work, a Vermont neighbor named James Buddy Edgerton serves as the model for three of the four figures and the Cub Scout is Edgerton's son.
