Lot Essay

Modeled in 1963, 'Paean' is a variation of Hugo Robus' 'Song' of thirty years prior. A favorite among patrons, this earlier version was well received when exhibited at the artist's retrospective exhibition in 1958 and thus inspired the artist to create the present model. 'Paean' was cast in an edition of four between 1963 and 1964.
