ZHENG MANQING (1902-1975)
LOTS 1570-1573 PROPERTY OF MIURA EIRAN Miura Eiran Miura Eiran (1880-1957) was a noted Chinese poet, painter and calligrapher. After graduating from school, she studied Chinese classics, paintings under the Buncho school, Nanga style paintings under Kodama Katei and calligraphy under Kusakabe Meikaku. She became a member of the Zuio Ginsha, the largest Chinese poetry club during the Meiji period, and studied Chinese poetry under Kokubu Seigai. In March 1931, the Foreign Ministry nominated her, along with twelve other members to go to China for a cultural exchange lasting one month. They travelled to areas such as Suzhou, Yangzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Shaoxing and Shanghai, returning to Nagasaki on 18 April. After her death, her husband Aida Noriharu edited her poetry which consisted of five volume - The Writings of Mirua Eiran, in 1958.
