Items which contain rubies or jadeite originating … Read more Le dessin original du "Bird on a rock" date de 1976 quand Jean Schlumberger le propose pour y sertir le fameux Diamant Tiffany, diamant coussin jaune de 121.58 carats acheté par Charles L. Tiffany en 1877 pour $18 000. Le diamant appartenait déjà depuis plus de soixante-dix ans à la maison et est encore en exposition dans leur boutique de la Cinquième Avenue à New York. Le "Bird on a rock" fait partie des dessins les plus connus et reconnus de Tiffany & Co. The "Bird on a Rock" design originates from 1976 when Jean Schlumberger proposed it as a mounting for the renowned Tiffany Diamond, a 121.58 carat cushion-shaped yellow diamond which was bought by Charles L. Tiffany in 1877 for $18,000. The diamond at that stage had already been in the Jewellery houses possession for nearly 70 years and still remains on display in their Fifth Avenue store today. The "Bird on a Rock" symbolizes one of the most recognized and iconic designs made by Tiffany & Co.
