Lot Essay

'J'étais, et je suis encore, très sensible à la matière, à la texture. C'est sans doute pourquoi on voit en moi un défenseur inconditionnel de l'abstraction. Encore faut-il qu'une toile soit soutenue par une structure. Ce souci, chez un peintre, est infiniment plus important à mes yeux que la classification un peu vaine, et bien schématique, entre abstraction et figuration.'
