Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Christiaan Van Der Klaauw Certificate dated December of 2001, wooden presentation box, setting pin, product literature, and outer packaging.

The present watch is Number 9 in Christiaan Van Der Klaauw's Eclipse series, featuring the orbit of the sun and moon that changes as the time of day passes. The eclipse dial at 6 o'clock indicates where there is an eclipse of the sun or moon at any moment on Earth. An eclipse of the sun occurs when the sun is blocked by the moon and can occur when the sun is totally or partially blocked by the moon. An eclipse of the moon occurs when the earth is between the sun and the moon and the moon does not receive any sunlight due to the Earth's position shadowing it. An eclipse of the moon can only occur with a full moon.
