Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 2007 and its subsequent sale on May 27th of the following year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated May 27, 2008, Patek Philippe veneered presentation box, leather portfolio and product literature, and outer packaging.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.

The reference 5102 is an astronomical wristwatch that borrows the principle of the celestial canopy from the most complicated wristwatch ever produced by Patek Philippe - reference 5002 Sky Moon Tourbillon. The nocturnal sky of the northern hemisphere rotates to show the apparent angular motion of the stars and moon as well as the progression of the phases of the moon. Hours and minutes are displayed by two pierced white hands. A delicate elliptical contour on the inside of the glass frames the portion of the sky that can be seen from all cities that share the latitude of Geneva.

This model was launched in 2002, first in white gold only, to be later replaced with yellow gold and finally with pink gold and platinum.

The present example is sealed in its original platic sleeve by Patek philippe from the time of production.
