Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Rolex presentation box, and Rolex Service Warranty dated March 21st, 2007.

Billy Hayes (born 1947) is an American writer and actor known for his autobiographical book "Midnight Express" in 1977 that was later adapted in a film of the same name 1978. The book and film portray Hayes' experience in Turkish prison system after he was convicted of smuggling hashish out of Turkey on October 7, 1970. Hayes remains active in the entertainment business and has recently been featured in a National Geographic film "Locked up Abroad: The Real Midnight Express".

This watch is accompanied by documentation showing that Hayes was the original owner of this watch and a selection of signed and personalized movie ephemera including an autographed copy of the book "Midnight Express", a signed VHS tape of "Midnight Express", a signed photograph of Billy Hayes, a signed copy of the "Midnight Express" screenplay by Oliver Stone, a signed photograph of Oliver Stone, a Merchandising and Advertising Manual for the movie, movie stills, three film reels, a movie poster, and press literature.
