The San Marco Chronometers were produced in several limited edition series, usually of 12 or 25 examples. The present watch is number 5 in a limited series of 12 watches depicting the Cutty Sark, the world's last surviving tea clipper, a type of 19th Century merchant sailing ship. The Cutty Sark departed from the town of Dumbarton, on the banks of western Scotland, in 1869, and made numerous journeys in it's lifetime. In 1954 it was transferred to it's currently dry-dock site in Greenwich, Great Britain.
