Lot Essay

Winkelman & Van der Bijl was a well-known workshop for ornamental ironwork established by H.J. Winkelman in 1909. The firm cooperated with famous Amsterdam School architects and produced a large part of the ornamental ironwork for the Amsterdam Scheepvaarthuis. H.J. Winkelman himself designed clocks and fireplaces from circa 1920 onwards. This set has been designed in possible collaboration with George Henri Lantman.
