etching with drypoint, 1650, without watermark, a good impression of the fourth, final state (New Hollstein's third, final state), with the scratch through the signature, still printing with considerable burr and vertical wiping marks in the sky, with narrow margins, two small repairs in the upper corners, slightly irregular light- and backboard staining, the sheet a little cockled, framed

Lot Essay

This impression compares well with the Salting impression of the fourth state in British Museum, although it seems more cleanly wiped and shows less of the accidental marks in the sky at right.
