Lot Essay

Painting the surface of the art work with modeling paste that has strong adhesion to even glass, With You, I Will Never Feel Lonely (Lot 10) is constituted of old furniture from Chen Ke's old house. The process of applying the modeling paste is a rather violent act; yet the little girl painted on the surface of the paste appears to be innocent and fragile. Such contrast recalls the complicated and sensitive nature of a transformation - which is similar to Grimm's Fairytales' secret and deliberate device - from violence to calmness.
