Nicolas and Olivier Descharnes have confirmed the authenticity of this work.

This flamboyant collection of extravagant shoes was conceived by Dalí for the costumes and set designs of Shakespeare's As You Like It, directed by Luchino Visconti in 1948 at the Eliseo Theater in Rome.
