Lot Essay

The present work was executed at the Fish House on Benner Island, Maine. Through the open window, Allen Island is visible in the distance. The reverse retains a pencil drawing known as Bunk Bed Study, which dates from 1996 and depicts Oar House on Benner Island through the window of Wharf House.

This work will be included in Betsy James Wyeth's forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist's work.
