This model was originally the twelfth dancer of a group of fifteen for a biscuitware centrepiece created by the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres in 1897. A porcelain version was made for the Exposition Universelle, 1900, Paris. In the light of the great success of these figures, Susse Frères made an edition in bronze.
