Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1991 and its subsequent sale on January 16th of the following year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated March 12, 1992, Patek Philippe wooden presentation box, additional sapphire crystal display back, setting pin, tie tag, product literature, leather portfolio, and outer packaging.

Reference 3940 was launched in 1985 and remained in production until 2006. The present watch is from the second series, featuring bevelled subsidiary dials for the 24 hours display and leap year indicator, as opposed to the inner sunken version of the first series and even version of later models.

The present watch is from the second series, featuring bevelled auxiliary dials with split leap years.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.
