In 1868, American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones, a director of E. Howard & Co., founded the International Watch Company with the intention of combining Swiss craftsmanship with American engineering, technology and production.

The F.A. Jones Squelette was released as a limited edition of 100 examples in rose gold and 50 examples in platinum, and featured a movement based on IWC's famous caliber 98 pocket watch movement, introduced in 1936.
