Jean-Marie Rivière was considered the King of Parisian nightlife. He successively founded and ran the cabaret Alcazar, Blue Angel, the Paradis Latin and the Café des Arts in Saint-Tropez. The Alcazar opened in 1968 in the Latin Quarter of Paris. Distinguishing itself from the usual entertainment venues of the day, L'Alcazar quickly became a mythical place in the capital and was a refuge for the best transvestite acts in Paris as well as its A-list clientele who included Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli and of course Bernard Buffet and his fellow artists.
