Lot Essay

Continuously extending his exploration of nature and its aesthetics, Forgotten Fire by Derakshani is unique in its colour palette and composition. The present diptych, eminently abstracted of recognisable features, leaves space to the viewer for interpretation. With an impeccable marriage of wonder and chaos, this piece reflects the recurring musical rhythms in Derakshani's oeuvre. A musician himself, Derakshani depicts his fantastical bursting fames in a way to create a cacophonic crescendo which emanates an underlying tone of exuberance. This glorification of form and technique is a celebration of his fearless expressionist style and constant search for meaning through life, love, paint and music.
