Lot Essay

Painted in 1906, this work likely depicts the artist's niece, who received the painting as a gift in 1907. This is one of many depictions Lefebvre created of Lady Godiva and was exhibited alongside several of its preparatory drawings in the dedicated exhibition mentioned above.
