In Transform Series, Xue Feng's splendid use of colour and the seemingly chaotic yet meticulously planned lines have created an experience of dj vu for the viewer. Vibrant colours bring to the picture rich hues and a sense of rhythm, constructing a luxurious land of adventure.
Xue's current interpretation of landscape is a result of a unique execution: he applies strips of tapes to certain parts of the canvas, paints on top and then takes them off after finishing the touches to create a torn and ruined visual effect. By doing so, Xue delivers his belief that pure beauty can only be found in fragility. The water surface of the pool stays still like a mirror, presenting the reflections of red leaves and green willows. Different shapes and colours clash; hence a visual motion is inaugurated as a contrast to the summer serenity.
