Lot Essay

Many watch connoisseurs think that watches in pink gold manage to strike the right balance between refined and flamboyant: not as eye-catching as their yellow gold peers, but neither as understated as their white counterparts. With its warm glow, pink gold captivated the hearts of many a collector. Today, the Rolex enthusiast has the opportunity to own a sublime example of pink gold day-date, with the very rare and enticing so-called "wide-boy" dial. It differs from a normal dial for the size of its baton numerals, obviously much wider than usual. A subtle change, that however imparts to the timepiece a remarkably different, more aggressive and modern look. Preserved in unspoiled condition, this timepiece exudes elegance and refinement: the warm tones of the pink case reprised on the dial by the hands and numerals of generous size that shine on the stark silvered brushed dial.
