With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 5 June 1994, additional case back, brown crocodile leather strap and sales tag. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with opaline-white dial in 1994 and its subsequent sale on 25 April 1994.

Fresh to the market, the present reference 3970 is preserved in absolute excellent overall condition; the case is sharp, the lugs are well defined, the hallmarks are crisp, the dial is intact - this example should delight its future owner.

Patek Philippe's celebrated reference 3970 was launched in 1986 and replaced reference 2499. The first generation was fitted with snap on case backs. Around 1989, the model was modified to a water-resistant version with screw back and was delivered with an additional glazed display back. Reference 3970 remained in production until 2004 when it was replaced by reference 5970.
