He Huaishuo was born in Guangdong. He moved to Taiwan in 1961 and graduated from National Taiwan Normal University, furthering his education at St. John's University in New York. He taught at several universities in Taiwan including Taipei National University of the Arts and National Taiwan Normal University.
He once said "the modernism in Modern art is not based on the exclusion or the inclusion of the pass?. It is contingent on the artist's innovation or perspective in the life of the universe." He instills various bold stylistic changes in his art and insists that tradition should not be blindly followed. Most of his paintings are executed with patches of viscous ink rather than apprehensive brushstrokes, and later on he develops an interest towards rigorous stippling processes akin to pointillism. Through the daunting contrasts in dimensions, He's lofty landscape expresses a feeling of sombre desolation that pales humble human existence.
