LOTS 1631-1634
PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE EUROPEAN COLLECTION
These paintings were acquired in the 1960s in Beijing, thence by descent to the present owner, whose father was a former ambassador of the German Democratic Republic in China. He was fluent in Chinese and made acquaintance with some local artists at the time. In 1988, part of his Chinese paintings collection was donated to East Asian Art Collection of the Museum of Asian Art in Berlin. Three paintings from the same collection were sold at high prices in Fine Chinese Modern Paintings sale at Christie's Hong Kong on 27 May 2014 (Lots 1570-1572).
