The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6265 was introduced in 1971 and is characterized by its metal graduated bezel. By contrast, reference 6263, which came out in the same year, has a bezel with a black plastic insert and white tachymeter scale. Both references were produced until the late 1980's. They were available in either stainless steel, 14k gold or 18k gold. The red Daytona signature can only be found on stainless steel models such as this one.
