A PAIR OF GEORGE I SILVER OCTAGONAL TRENCHER SALTS
MARK OF ROBERT PILKINGTON, LONDON, 1726
With sunken oval centres and engraved with crest of head and torso of man holding dagger and key; a single similar salt initialled E over R.S; a matched pair of George II oval trencher salts, one by IS crowned, London,1727, the other I.W (Grimwade 3694), both engraved with crest of demi-lion rampant supporting a sun in splendour between forepaws with crescent below paws; and three George I/II/III bun-top peppers, one by Thomas Bamford (I), London, 1724, the other two with finials, London, 1734 and 1761,the 1734 example with Scottish crest and initial B
