WANG YANCHENG
(Chinese, B. 1960)
ParcelWine Introduced in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland, the celebrated firm was named after its founders and accomplished watchmaker, Ulysse Nardin. The company was originally widely respected for manufacturing highly accurate marine chronometers. Throughout the years, the company gradually shifted its focus on creating limited editions of ultra-high precision timepieces. Such a change resulted in the creation of the Jaquemarts Minute Repeater, the Freak and the renowned "Trilogy of Time" - Astrolabium Galileo Galilei (Lot 2274 in this sale), Planetarium Copernicus (Lot 2273 in this sale) and Tellurium Johannes Kepler (Lot 2272 in this sale).

The Tellurium Johannes Kepler, launched in 1992, features a rotating earth as seen from the North Pole. The time passes from the Tropic of Cancer to the Trop of Capricorn to reveal the part of the earth lit by the sun and to indicate the time and place of sunrise and sunset. The moon rotates around the earth and indicates full and new moon. A dragon hand shows the solar and lunar eclipses. It also features a perpetual calendar which indicates the ruling zodiac sign, day and month.
