Lot Essay

Vera Prasilova Scott was Drtikol's assistant and sometimes model circa 1920. This particular print was made as she was leaving for America, where she eventually married into Texas society. It has been said that she did not wish the print, nor any of the other 12 or so images made with her as sitter, to be shown during her lifetime. The heir to her collection made the print available for sale following her death in 1996.
