QAJAR IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
Comprising a central panel of rectangular form, the embroidered decoration consisting of a large cusped medallions with dense floral field, an outward facing shir-o-khorshid in each floral spandrel above and below, the borders with an elegant interlocking straps, a floral register above ; and two narrower rectangular panels, each with embroidered cusped medallions interspersed with roundels, on dense floral ground, a shir-o-khorshid motif at either end, on deep-red woollen ground
The central panel 168 ¼ x 102 ¾in. (427.5 x 260.8cm.), each side panel 287 x 44in. (729 x 112cm.)
